Acne Eczema
I have eczema and acne. Will the Bare Escentuals foundation powder help or worsen it?
I have eczema and acne, too, and have also tried Bare Minerals in the past, looking for a sensitive foundation to cover it, but found that it worked HORRIBLY. It did not irritate my skin, and it did feel very light and natural, but even after moisturizing and priming my skin, it still brought attention to all the dry, flaky parts of my face, fine lines, and to any acne. It has this weird shimmery look that doesn't work well with acne and dryness, only serving to accentuate the two, instead of covering it up.
However, I must say that even if I fell asleep with the powder on, it did not cause me to break out even more, which is a positive.
So while it didn't worsen my acne or eczema, it definitely did not help covering it up. I've been using Mario Badescu's products recently, and found that any dryness of the skin have gone done substantially; I totally recommend just going onto his site (mariobadescu.com) and filling out the questionnaire. Just for filling it out about your skin type, they'll send you lots of FREE samples-- very, very generous ones at that --of products that work with your skin. I definitely recommend them to anyone, especially if you have sensitive skin like mine.
With that in mind, while my acne and dryness haven't completely gone away, I've been using Laura Mercier's Silk Creme foundation to even out skin tone, cover up redness, any pimples and dark acne scars-- it works beautifully. It is very pigmented, so I only use less than a dime size amount for my whole face. It's so light but covers everything, believe me.
If you're scared about jumping into a liquid [well, it's really creme] foundation, Philosophy's Supernatural Airbrush Powder foundation works a million times better than Bare Minerals. It's a little bit pricer, (less than LM though) but I've purchased one and its lasted about 6 months so far, even with regular use, and I'm still not done using it.
