Dandruff Remedy

Can anyone suggest a good home remedy for dandruff?
I am looking to clear my scalp of dandruff and at the same time help promote healthy hair growth using natural and home remedies using easily available natural products.
I have a couple of suggestions for your dandruff problem.
I found this home remedy for dandruff from another health site that has a lot of tips on natural and home remedies for common problems.
Anyway, one cure for dandruff is to mix together 1 part of Listerine mouthwash with nine parts of water. Apply this to your hair after shampooing as usual. Leave this on for a few minutes and wash it out with lukewarm water.
Not only will your hair smell minty fresh, but turns out Listerine is an effective cure for dandruff.
Compare labels of generic or store brand mouthwashes and if they contain the same active ingredient as Listerine then you are guaranteed the same results as Listerine.
A second remedy if you are just not the type who wants your hair smelling like mouthwash is to try the "mint rinse"!
So what you need is a handful of dry mashed peppermint leaves. You can easily find them in any grocery store these days. Cover the mashed dry mint leaves with vodka, just enough to cover them.
Next, let this mixture stand for 24 hours undisturbed.
Then strain it and add water about 1/4 tsp at a time and mix till it turns cloudy.
After shampooing as usual, apply this cloudy mix to your scalp and leave it on.
You should see results by the second shampoo. If you need more tips and home remedies you can check out the source site listed below.
The Search for a Dandruff Remedy - What Causes Dandruff?
Scurf (another name for dandruff) is a common condition. A lot of people have it. Why is it so bad? It is bad because society has labelled it as a sign of not being clean. But you know that is not the cause. You can shampoo two times a day and still have dandruff. So what really causes dandruff and what is it?
Dandruff is the excess shedding of skin flakes and cells from the scalp. In normal people these remain so small that you can not see them without a microscope. In people with dandruff, these small flakes clump together and make visible flakes. Now, dandruff is not the only thing that can cause flaking. So if you try some dandruff remedies without success, you may want to consult a doctor to make sure that is what you have.
There are 3 things required for dandruff. The first is the natural oil on your skin. The second is by products of the fungus and yeast naturally present on your scap. The third is that you are just going to get dandruff. That you are susceptible.
The fungus in question is called Malassezia globosa. It eats the oils on your scalp and produces oleic acid. This acid then irritates the skin and make it shed faster than normal. Once in a while however, dandruff is caused by an allergic reaction.
The key to controlling the fungus is picking something that will bring the population of it under control. You can buy man made shampoos with harsh chemicals in it. You can buy corporate produced shampoos with natural ingredients. Or, you can make your own remedies at home.
Any of these choices are likely to reduce or do away with your dandruff. But you might want to make your own remedy at home so that you know exactly what is in it.
