Difference Between Psoriasis And Eczema

What's the difference between psoriasis and eczema?

I have a rash on my neck, and I've narrowed it down to these two skin problems, but how do I know which one I have? They both sound practically the same to me. Here are my symptoms though.

I'm a 20 year old woman, about 140 lbs. The rash is right on the back of my neck on the hairline. It looks like a red, raised patch of skin that is dry and itchy, sometimes with flakiness. I don't have any bumps, just the patch of skin. I've had it now for about a few weeks. it will start to feel better one day, then all of a sudden it will flare up again.

I put some ointment on it, which helps, though it's still itchy. Would taking an allergy medicine help? What other ointments can help?

Doesn't sound like eczema; Eczema usually appears as a rash, but with many bumps and little fluid-like blisters.
But for the itching in general, use any creams (I don't recommend using ointments, most don't allow your skin to breathe) that contain hydro cortisone. I use a cream called "cortaid," it contains the hydro cortisone and it also contain steroids for the inflammation. I use it for any itching that I get from eczema; and I'm sure if you had either of the two conditions it would work just as well. You can pick up any cream that contains hydro cortisone and it would work. Allergy medication would work just as well for the itching too, in fact combining the two and using them simultaneously may be able to rid you of your rash.
