Dry skin is making my face dark?
Ok so i developed dry skin on my face on each side of the nose right underneath the eye area. And it looks dark why is this.. I got dry and eczema cream from my doctor and i've been applying it for about 2 week now and it's still not going i've had it for a year plus now i developed it during the winter

Magnifying a Possible Cause of Dry Skin Beneath Eyes
In the spring of 1975, a female graduate student in Houston, TX suffered from dry skin around eyes. She developed that problem after staring into a microscope lens day after day for a number of weeks. Aware that she might soon need to deal with dry skin beneath eyes, that same graduate student scheduled a visit to a dermatologist.
So, with visible scales around her eyes, and an outer layer of flaking skin around her eyebrows, that female graduate student sat before a dermatologist at the Houston Medical Center. She did not have to spend much time explaining why she had come to that office. The doctor could see that his female patient had dryness.
The doctor had a number of questions for his patient. He did not ask, "Are you concerned about the possible development of dry skin beneath eyes?" Instead, he had the following questions for his patient with the scaly eyes.
The Houston doctor asked his patient if she had always had such dry skin around her eyes. When she responded, "No," the doctor asked her when she had first noticed the scaling and flaking skin.
The doctor asked his patient if any other part of her skin was also especially dry. He wanted to know if it became worse in any particular environment. At the same time, the doctor wanted to know if his female patient noticed a decrease in the dryness, when witnessing a marked change in the setting where she lived or worked.
Eventually, the doctor discovered that his female patient was quite familiar with the itching and cracking of dry skin. The doctor learned that his female patient had had eczema since the time when she was only six months old. The doctor's female patient assured the dermatologist that she did not use harsh soaps when bathing.
The dermatologist then studied his patient's dry skin, both the dry skin beneath eyes and the dry skin around eyes. The dermatologist wrote a couple of prescriptions for his patient. That female patient purchased her prescription medicine, and she carried it with her to Miami, where she needed to speak at a meeting of the American Society of Genetics.
Today, some geneticists are learning about the DNA code for collagen. Collagen is a protein. Collagen helps skin to be firm and strong. When skin can be stimulated to increase its production of collagen, then that skin should not display the cracks that are characteristic of drying skin.
Still, the above statement should not be interpreted as an endorsement for any product that can fill in the cracks in a layer of dry skin. Such a product could well be washed off the skin before it was able to moisten the skin. An effective product for dryness is one that can stimulate the production of collagen in that same skin.
When skin has been stimulated to make collagen, then that treated skin can become firm and strong. Such skin will not flake or crack. Such skin will not force a man or woman to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist.
