Dyshidrotic Eczema Feet
What causes the sole of my daughter's foot to break out with itchy blisters every summer for past 11 years?
Each year as the weather warms, the sole of my daughter's right foot breaks out with several itchy blisters. We've been told it's poison ivy, epidermalosis bullosa, and now, after online research, I'm wondering if it's dyshidrotic eczema. Does anyone know what causes the outbreak and what can we treat it with? These blisters do get sore enough where she doesn't like to walk-the pressure makes the pain worsen.
Man I used to get those when I was younger too and even between my fingers. It seems to me my parents put me on a good kid vitamin and some omega 3s (chia seeds) and they went away. Im not really for sure which one worked but it did work. The drs never could figure it out.
Dyshidrotic Eczema Symptoms
Many people have to deal with one health problem or another in their life. Having skin problems is not uncommon and many people have them. For some the problem may be as simple as having dry skin on a cold day. But for others it could be a more serious condition known as dyshidrotic eczema.
This skin condition is a type of eczema that can be found on the feet and hands. People with this condition will have small blisters full of serum that will form underneath the surface of the skin. These blisters are a clear sign of an acute flare and will cause itching around and on the area. After the itching has begun the patient will notice rather deep cracks in the skin as well as superficial scaling. Both of these symptoms cause immense pain.
It is not uncommon for people to confuse dyshidrotic eczema with an allergic reaction and contact dermatitis. To make sure that it is not ignored and is properly treated the affected patient should see their physician as soon as possible. Many doctors will perform special tests that will determine what is causing the problem.
Dyshidrotic eczema is a recurring and chronic condition that will appear on occasion throughout an adult’s life. It can be made worse by irritation on a constant basis, a contact allergy, atopy, fungal id-reactions, and primary fungal infections. Some doctors believe that too much smoking, coffee, and stress might also play a small role in aggravating the condition. Unfortunately doctors have not been able to determine exactly what causes this disease.
The blisters that form will usually be on the toes, soles, fingers, and palms of the patient’s hand and feet. When the patient scratches the blisters - due to the intense itching - they will cause the skin to thicken and might even create another infection.
Corticosteroid ointments and creams help to treat this disease. Those who have more severe outbreaks may have to use intramuscular or oral corticosteroid. The itching could be lessened with the help of antihistamines.
