Person suffering from asthma finds it difficult to breathe. It is a problem or disease of lungs. In asthma the channel connected to the lungs get inflamed. The passage becomes narrow and the person finds difficult to breathe. Mucus is also produced which makes the person more difficult to breathe. If anyone suffers from asthma demands immediate medical help as he or she after the attack of asthma faces a great problem while breathing. If immediate medical help is not given to the victim then there might be a fatal condition.
Though there are no definite causes of asthma but it may be due to faulty genes or influence of the environment. If both the factors combine together then the condition becomes more serious. Apart from this cause asthma may also be the result of various allergic diseases like hay fever or eczema. When the person is affected the breathing tubes are inflamed and narrowed down causing difficulty in breathing. The infected person becomes more allergic to chemical irritants, smoking, house dust etc. the condition aggravates if the person is suffering from emotional depression. So any person suffering from asthma must be careful about the allergies including the surroundings.
Some of the major symptoms of asthma are feeling tightness in the chest, difficulty in breathing and also the constant coughing. These are the symptoms which may vary according to the severity of the attack. But in severe cases immediate medical attention is necessary. Asthma is also caused by active or passive smoking.
Natural asthma treatments are there which must be followed strictly:
Arachidonic acid is a fat that causes inflammation in the body which also results in causing asthma. It is found on meat, egg yolks and shellfish. So intake of these foods should be avoided to prevent asthma as well as lessen its symptoms also. Either reduce its intake or increase the intake of beneficial fatty acids which are found in fish oil capsules, evening primrose oil and also in the borage.
Eating fresh fruits and vegetables are very effective for the treatment of the asthma naturally. Especially the fruits and vegetables like carrot, tomatoes, apples and leafy vegetables are very fruitful and protect us from asthma.
Some herbs are also very effective in the treatment of asthma. An herb known as 'Butterbur' contains some chemicals which help in reducing the smooth muscle spasms and also it is having anti- inflammatory quality which reduces the asthma. Food manufacturers now label all foods containing nuts, but if you are buying unlabelled foods or eating out, ask about the ingredients. Artificial colorings and additives are also triggers, so try to include as many natural, unprocessed foods as possible in your child's diet.
If you suspect that certain sweets or fizzy drinks are causing attacks, avoid them. This will not only help you decide whether there is a problem, but also limit your child's intake of junk food.
Dairy products are often connected with allergies, especially eczema, but you should always ask your doctor's advice before removing them from a child's diet. Pollen is very hard to avoid during summer months. The worst time is early summer when so many plants are in flower.
Rain literally washes pollen away, so the pollen count is highest during a dry spell and you may have to be extra vigilant at this time. Get into the habit of finding out about the daily pollen count, and then plan your child's activities accordingly.

Encourage him to play outside only early in the morning or just before bed when the pollen count is lower. Resist the temptation to bring cur flowers inside the house. Open windows and doors to air the house early in the morning and then keep them closed for the rest of the day.
Your doctor gives you the diagnosis, your child is suffering from pediatric asthma. As you grapple with this piece of unwanted news, you take comfort that he is able to prescribe a drug that will help. He may hand you some pamphlets on how to cope with an asthma attack.
And so your child is now becoming dependent on drugs to stay alive and reasonably well. All well and good, but did the doctor tell you of the side effects of what he is prescribing? Since asthma is a chronic illness, your child is going to take these drugs regularly, for years and years. Surely there has to be a better, kinder, more effective way than this? Of course there is. Pediatric asthma does not have to depend on drugs, which in the end may cause more harm than good.
But, let us have a look at what is standard treatment. There will probably be two inhalers - one a "preventer" and the other a "reliever". The reliever will contain a Bronchodilator, possibly several types of Bronchodilators. This is a drug to enlarge the diameter of the airways. Fair enough, just what one needs during an asthma attack. Any possible side effects? Ah, yes, just a few. Nervousness and restlessness to the point of finding it impossible to sleep is one. Nausea and vomiting and depending on the Bronchodilator prescribed, your child could also suffer from diarrhea, headaches, depression, irregular heart beat and leg cramps.
The preventers have a different set of problems. Normally made of Corticosteroids (anti-inflammatory drugs) they are powerful and have to be monitored carefully. People have died while switching to inhaled medication from oral medication. Unexplained mood swings (over and above the teenage phase) are another unwelcome side effect. Brittle bones, weak muscles, weight gain, cataracts, coughing add to the medley of side effects.
Do not hang clothes outside to dry or bedding to air when the pollen count is high. If your child reacts badly to pollen, ask his school if he can stay inside at times when there is a high pollen count and when the grass has just been cut. Remind him never to roll in grass, even when he sees his friends doing so.
