Eczema Diaper Rash

How long should a baby have a diaper rash before he needs to be taken to the hospital?
my son has a diaper rash it seems like over 2 weeks. We change him almost every hour and thru the night. we changed diaper brands. i used balmex and desitin and vitamin a+d.
now i am just trying to prevent moisture all together by using powder and letting him go without a diaper for like 20 minutes at a time.
He also has baby eczema(on his scalp) that we control with eucerin, could that make him more sensitive to diaper rash?
we have been to the doc for the eczema. She told us to use Eucerin and we use it everyday, and he hasnt had any patches since.
Okay, well first I went thru similar sort of thing with my oldest son... Turns out he had a YEAST rash on his bum. I didnt even know boys could get this, but it happens. It is impervious to all the diaper rash creams, desitin, A/D, whatever. A yeast rash tends to be red and uniformly even rather than spotty. It can be peeling too and have faded patches in it. Anyway, immediately get some vaginal yeast or mens cream from the store, there is no preferance for ingredient, it's all safe (they're not eating it) and apply a think coat of it every time you change his diaper, after wiping him. within a few changes you should notice it starting to get paler and paler. The thing with yeast is that even a small amount of esp. #2 left on them can restart it again. I had to go to using warm wet washclothes after the wipes, b/c NO baby-wipes gets them completely clean. you wipe with like 10 wipes, you think it looks clean, then you use a warm rag.... Hmm, a little bit left - wow! So try this, try to let him air dry for a few mins after bath or diaper change if you can. Yeast doesn't like to be dry or light.
FYI after i had this experience I wondered why yeast diaper rash is NEVER mentioned in the baby books/articles... I have also seen several babies since then with resistant diaper rash that was really yeast rash. The doc can also give a Rx for Nystatin cream, and yes its the same thing they prescribe for thrush which is also a yeast infection.
Most Common Skin Problems Among Children
Children have sensitive skin. Thus, mothers have to be very careful about the skin of her children - and also of the environment. Clean surroundings will contribute a lot in the prevention of skin problems among children. Nevertheless, mothers have to know the most common skin problems that may affect their children to be able to know the early signs and the preventive measures:
Scabies
Scabies is an infection with animal parasite. They are organisms that cannot be seen by the naked eye. They hide in the topmost layer of the skin; when they start moving, children begin feeling the itch. It commonly appears between fingers and wrists. So, upon careful observation that your children are doing continuous scratching of their skin, seek professional help or look for possible first aid.
Diaper Rash
Months-old babies suffer from diaper rash, which is the result of too much wetness and rubbing. Commonly, it is the result of being exposed to urine and stools for a longer period of time. Mothers are, therefore, advised to always check the diaper of their babies to avoid diaper rash. Once a child has diaper rash, apply cream to the part. The diaper rash is gone in two to three days.
Acne
If you think acne is only for adults, think again. Even two- to three-week-old babies can have acne. It appears in the cheek, nose, chin, and forehead. Baby boys are commonly afflicted than the girls. The cause may be unknown, but they said it is the "maternal hormone stimulation of the sluggish sweat glands of the baby". There is no need to apply anything on the acne. It will heal on its own. To avoid acne, always ensure that the baby is not wet of anything, such as milk.
Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease
This disease starts with the reddening of the tongue, mouth or gums. These reddening turn into swelling until they form lesions. Lesions at the hand and feet appear at the sides or the backs of toes and fingers. To keep your child from this disorder, wash your hands properly and frequently.
Eczema
Generally, the most common skin problem for children, eczema appears before the child reaches five years old. As days pass, it improves until it disappears upon reaching adulthood. It is the result of skin irritation from something to which the child is allergic to. Eczema, at first, looks like a rash and is sometimes moist. It is seen around the joint areas. When scratched, it may bleed.
It is not easy for mothers to look at their children suffering from any pain or disorder. Mommies always wish their kids to be in their top shape. Skin diseases are not welcome to them. Therefore, as a mom, you should know how to avoid it. The key to prevent your children from being afflicted with skin problems is cleanliness. The things that they use, the surroundings where they stay, and the people that they are in contact with should promote proper hygiene.
