Eczema Diet Children

Any experiences with child being tested for food allergies through the blood test RAST?
My 8 month old son was diagnosed with a milk protein and soy protein allergy three months ago. He has only had breastmilk and through keeping a journal and eliminating certain foods, it was evident that he was allergic to milk and soy. I have had to completely eliminate these from my diet which has been quite challenging but he has been much better although he has flares of eczema on his face and I fear he might be allergic to wheat. Anyhow his GI just ordered a RAST. Upon my research I've read that the test isn't used often because of it's high rate of false results. I'm wondering if I should put my son through the pain of having his blood drawn so young if this test isn't going to tell us much. If another mom could give me some positive feedback on their experience with the test and it's results I'd feel better about going ahead with it. I've heard some pretty bad stories of lab techs having to stick babies several times to find a vein.
My daughter is 9 mths and we had the RAST test when she was 6 mths because her doc suspected that she had a milk protein allergy. The lab technician was able to get her on the first try, and my baby was done crying by the time I picked her up off the table. We got the results 3 days later and it was confirmed that she has a severe (requires we carry an Epi-pen) allergy to milk and a semi-severe allergy to eggs. (Great, what do I feed her?) I was extremely impressed by how quick we were in and out of the lab that day. I really hope that whoever pricks your baby does it just as well. And we are certain without a doubt that the results are right because about a week later, I gave her some chicken from my burrito in her feeder bag and didn't even think that there might have been some queso that had soaked into the meat, (I had sucked it off before I gave it to her to get all the spices off) Well, almost instantly her face broke out in hives that spread all over her body and her entire face swelled up. I had the epi-pen ready but her doctor's office said to give her 2cc benadryll and see if that helped. It did, but 2 hours later her top lip was still extremely swollen. I hate to think of what's gonna happen if she actually drinks milk when she gets older on accident! I mean this was just a hint of cheese and it was that bad!
Anyways, yes I have had a good experience with the test and the results being accurate. i honestly think that your baby is gonna have to be tested eventually if you think he has allergies, so why not do it now when he'll forget by the time you get home versus waiting till he's older and can actually vocalize how mad he is at you??
