The main cause of eczema is overreaction of the immune system. Identifying certain foods, chemicals, etc can be very helpful in battling this disease. I try to avoid soy and milk products which trigger my flare-ups.
After using number of prescription drugs I've turned to the natural treatments.
Now I use serenaskin herbal remedies , which aim at the root of the disease - the immune system, and are steroid-free.
After about 2 weeks of using ointment and spray my skin has been cleared up and now I just continue with eczema extract, which controls the immune system. My skin has been clear for months now.
It is the only treatment I have found that provides me complete relief when I use it as directed.
Eczema and Psoriasis: Cause and Effect
Eczema and psoriasis are common non-contagious skin disorders. Eczema, medically called “atopic dermatitis” is a chronic, inflammatory skin disorder that affects more than 35 million people in the United States. This skin disorder commonly occurs in people who suffer from asthma and hay fever. Symptoms of Eczema are skin swelling, then itching, inflammation, and eventually scaling and cracking. The prevalence of eczema is mostly found in children less than 18 years old who make up 80% of reported incidences. In most cases, there are periods of time when this skin disorder is worse, called exacerbations or flares, followed by periods when the skin improves or clears up entirely, called remissions. Most of the children who have eczema will realize a temporary remission from the disorder generally when they reach the age of 18 to 21 years, although their skin often remains dry and easily irritated.
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder marked by periodic flare-ups of sharply defined red patches covered by a silvery, flaky surface. It is estimated that there are 9 million people in the U.S. that suffer with psoriasis. It is generally believed that psoriasis is a disorder in which factors in the immune system, enzymes, and other biochemical substances that regulate skin cell division become impaired causing rapid keratinocyte (immature skin cell) proliferation and inflammation. Such abnormalities are likely due to one or more genetic defects. The process also probably needs an environmental trigger, such as weather or stress, to set it off.
The current consensus in the scientific community is that skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis are the result of abnormal immune response episodes. During normal immune response against infection the human body significantly increases the level of lymphocytes and cytokine cells used to eliminate microorganism and toxins. Lymphocytes and cytokine cells release enzymes and proteases as well as recruit phagocyte cells that release a delicate balance of, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxide ion radical, and super oxygen anion radical as bio-physiological weapons to eliminate infections, allergens, and toxins. When infections have been subdued lymphocyte and cytokine production return to normal levels. However, in some people microorganisms (e.g., bacteria), fungi, yeast, and allergens (chemicals, pollen) can upset the delicate balance of the immune defensive system resulting in severe inflammation, itching, dryness, and damaged skin. It is currently accepted that inherited genetic factors are the major causes for this imbalance in the immune response mechanism. However, this dysfunction in immune response can be traced back to a malfunction in the signal expression from released prostaglandins during the onset of the inflammation process.
WHY CURRENT TREATMENTS APPROACHES ARE IN SUFFICIENT
Itching and dry cracking skin are not the cause of eczema but are merely symptoms of a much bigger problem. Eczema associated inflammation (dysfunctional immune response) is the result of a prostaglandin signal malfunction which is regulated by the bodies production of cytokines released by circulating leukocytes during microbiological or toxin intrusions. Chronic inflammation is the result of this prostaglandin malfunction resulting in damage to surrounding skin tissue and eventual scarring. Further damage to skin tissue is the result of a continuing build up of neutrophils (phagocytes) at the site of infection or intrusion (toxins) which continue to release high concentration levels of proteases and oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radical anion, and super oxygen radical anion that kill not only bacteria and other toxins but ultimately destroy surrounding tissue as well. The end result of this out of control imminue response is damaged skin. Thus, only using so-called “natural oils”, moisturizers, natural and synthetic cortisones to relive the type of itching and cracking skin observed in eczema suffers can only have a mediocre and temporary effect.

It was during this research that MD Shahid discovered that certain plant, flower, and fruit extracts when combined with selected organic oils and amino acids was a effective combination that could be used to help control and manage eczema and psoriasis skin disorders. In 2004 MD Shahid founded the company Xcel Nutraceuticals which produces and manufactures all natural based and organic products for the control of eczema, psoriasis, and hair loss.
