Eczema Hands Children

Temporary cure for eczema?
I know there is no cure really, but my 3 and a half year old daughter has eczema mainly on her hands and legs. Sometimes she will scratch so bad that she actually tears her skin up and it looks like her flesh is coming out. I feel horrible because she is just a child and doesnt know any better but this has been a big issue. I've been to her dermatologist and I use a very high dose of hydrocortisone (high steroid). She is also taking medication for itching but doesn't seem to help. It goes away and comes back. Any suggestions??
Try adding "oatmeal" to some nice warm bathwater and soaking. Too much heat makes the itching worse. You can use whole oatmeal...or the instant plain variety...or grind it up into a fine powder in a blender or coffee grinder. If you go with the big stuff...make a giant "tea bag" from a couple layers of cheese cloth and you won't clog the drain!..."Aveeno" makes several products (at most drug stores) that are very soothing and keep the skin well moisturized. If you read the ingredients...guess what's in most of them? Oatmeal...also great for sunburns
Scalp Eczema - Keep The Itch Off Your Head With These Easy Tips
Eczema affects people in many different forms and one of which is scalp eczema. This is prevalent in both sexes and affects all races regardless of age. The dominant body parts where eczema is causing havoc are the legs, arms and the scalp. Because the scalp produces more oil and grease than any parts of the skin, it makes the scalp more susceptible to the development of eczema. This oil producing function of the scalp and environmental factors like sunlight, extreme heat and too much cold all work hand in hand to make eczema.
Scalp eczema is divided into two classes, the internal and environmental eczema. Allergic reactions, herpicum eczema and irritant contact eczema make up the examples of environmental eczema. While internal eczema includes nummular, ruburn, madidans, seborrhoeic and asteototic eczema.
Eczema of the scalp may cause irritation and too much itching. The dermatitis in the scalp loosens the oily scales causing it to flake. In common terms, it is known as dandruff. This type of skin disease is more prevalent among males than in females and more likely to occur from ages 30 to 60 years old.
The common manifestations are red, itchy and scaly scalp. The flakes that fall off are colored red or yellow. Behind the ears scaling and in the brows are common symptoms that come with scalp eczema. The real cause behind this condition is unknown but theories state that it is made by hormonal imbalances and fungus.
As a natural remedy, fish oil and omega 3 contribute to the reduction of this skin disease. If you want to rely on medicines, corticosteroids can be the solution to your problem but it requires a doctor's prescription to avail of them.
Scalp eczema like all other skin diseases can be extremely irritating but if you take the right approach and discipline, you'll be on your way to a skin free of itch and irritations.
