Eczema In Babies Dairy
milk allergy and soy?
i have breastfed my son for 6 months. he has always had extremely dry skin with red patches since birth. our ped says eczema. my older son had it too. now at 6 months i am weaning my baby to formula as i get ready to go back to work. i have started him on similac advance. he still has the same dry, patchy skin as he has always had.
someone suggested to me that maybe he has a milk allergy and that the dairy i ate was effecting him and now the dairy in the formula is effecting him. they recommended trying soy formula.
he has never been upset by my milk or the similac advance. no tummy troubles or anything.
anyone have experience with this? what do you think? do milk allergies cause eczema or dry skin?
milk allergies can cause eczema but you would see the tummy troubles first. in children only about 1% aactually have an allergy to cows milk. you can get him tested at an allergist. i recommend using eucurine's aquaphor skin protectant. worked better than steroids on my daughter's eczema.
