Eczema Molluscum Contagiosum
Molluscum Contagiosum Experience?
My toddler has molluscum contagiosum. It did not bother him at first, so the doctor said to leave it be and it will clear up on it's own. But, now, it seems to be causing him some discomfort. He also seems to have eczema in the surrounding area.
I am waiting to hear back from his doctor, but in the meantime, has anyone had any experience with this? I don't want to get it because I am 8 months pregnant and I also want to ease his discomfort. If anyone has experienced this, stories would be appreciated! Thank you!
My oldest son had this as a toddler as well for about six months or so. I was never even told that it was contagious, and I never caught it either.
My son's lesions did NOT clear on their own and he had to be treated. He probably had about 10-12 lesions spread out around his body. They used a method of blistering each lesion with "cantharidin" which is literally a blister beetle extract. They didn't use paper tape however as they were supposed to... so when I removed the surgical tape per their directions, it ripped each blister open and off. It was terrible! My poor baby. He thought I was trying to hurt him... I used some anesthetic spray and some bandaids and he was okay, thank goodness. They healed wonderfully.
