Eczema Molluscum
Does anybody know what molluscum are and how long they take to go??
my ten year old son suffers with eczema quite badly under his armpit and in the crease of his elbow. Over the past few weeks we have noticed what look like little warts where the eczema is.
I took him to our G.P. who said they were something called molluscum and that they will go over time on their own.
He seems to be getting more and more which is bothering him because some of his classmates have commented on them in P.E.
Does anyone know what causes them and how long they take to go?? Also are there any treatments i can buy to treat them?
my 3 year old daughter had this and yes it will go away in time. but in the meantime he can spread it to more people. It wont make anybody sick but the bumps are annoying and can even be painful. Molluscum can last up to 8 years. I took my daughter to the dermatologist. They froze some off but made the whole thing alot worse and even scarred her face. We tried some Aldara cream. Ordered the Zymaderm off the Internet lots of other stuff. finally one day I was researching this and found that if you take a cotton ball and soak it will apple cider vinegar and put it on the bump for 24 hours it will go away. When you take it off it may not look much different but within 3 or 4 days it should be going away or gone. The hard part is keeping the cotton ball on there for 24 hours so i got some of the "tough strips" by band aid. They have a lot of stick to them. Even on some, which i know sounds a little harsh I even had to use duct tape. Hope this works and if you have any questions just ask
Are Warts And Moles Different?
Warts and moles appear somewhat similar but these are two different things. Since they look very similar to each other, many mistake one for the other. Warts are known to be caused due to a long drawn out infectious viral flourish. Moles are not a disorder. They are the specific little spots on the skin, which are a result of heavy pigmentation caused by melanin. Melanin is the substance in the body that determines the skin color.
Warts appear on the skin differently in different parts of the body. Although they do not generally cause pain or pose health hazards, they are surely annoying due to their ugly look. Quite different from this, mole is color-concentrated small area on the skin that usually is a feature by birth. This may eventually turn malignant. So, warts and moles are entirely two different things.
Characteristically, the common wart is a rough, ugly looking lump that will have ridged surface. Warts appear only on certain typical areas, whereas, moles can appear on anywhere on body skin. Unlike warts, these dark colored small, generally circular spots are seen by some people as a beautifying factor too. Sometimes, larger moles may have hairs growing in those spots. While in most people moles are a birth mark, in some others it develops during childhood.
Molluscum contagiosum is a wart-like occurrence. If you do not observe this properly, you may easily mistake it for a mole. These are clusters of minute lifeless grain-like structures containing cheesy material. Usually, these are seen in children who are affected by eczema. A mole which appears as a contrastingly dark, flat spot on the skin may sometimes appear raised above the skin. Another typical skin disorder is sebaceous cyst. These cysts are also likely to be mistaken for warts.
