Will the birth control pill make eczema worse? is there a chance it will make it better?
i have eczema on my hands. its not very severe but it isss annoying. im not quite sure but i also believe i have it on my cheeks. for as long as i can remember, even before puberty, my cheeks were red and bumpy. i always kinda assumed it was a form of acne untill my doctor told me what i had on my hands was eczema. i will be starting Ortho Tri-Cyclen any day now (just waiting for the right time to start) and ive been concerned about whether or not it will make my eczema worse. i googled it a found stories of people developing eczema after going on the pill when they never even had it before. i was wondering if this was true. also, has anyone noticed their eczema get better after going on the pill?
hydrocortisone cream is amazing for eczema, it clears up most cases in a couple days.. when it pops back up, apply the cream again. Have a talk with your doctor about getting the cream.
As for the BC Causing more breakouts of eczema, it's not proven. The rash will come back with contact from certain products but the more common cause is the dry or oily skin. It can also be caused by bubble bath or allergies, not by birth control. I hope this helps!
