Eczema Swimming Chlorine
Eczema Swimming Chlorine
Could I be allergic to chlorine?

When I was little I would always get eczema on the back of my knees in the summertime, at first I didn't understand why but now that I have a chemistry class it's starting to make since. You see, I have also always hated to smell of bleach. It makes me start gaggin and I'm forced to breathe out of my mouth. Last year when I didn't go swimming at all I noticed that I didn't get any eczema. Yes, I do shower before and after swimming but I still got the eczema. My only wonder is if it is an allergy to chlorine how come I can eat salty foods? So is it an allergy to chlorine and is there anything I can do about it or will I just always get a rash when I swim?
I thought salty foods might effect that too because table salt is sodium chloride.

Yes you could be allergic to chlorine. I dont see what salty foods have to do with that, salt is not chlorine. I am also allergic to chlorine. You can take antiheistamines before swimming. I usually react to drinking water if I drink a large amount of it though, so it may only be a very mild allergy. Go to your doctor and be tested for a chlorine allergy... it would probably affect your entire body, not just behind your knees. You could be allergic to something else in the water also, so try antiheistamines and see if they stop it.

Natural Cures for Eczema - The Better Alternative

This is for everyone who suffers from eczema and is tired of spending hundreds of dollars on ointments and creams to no avail. No one wants to wait days, weeks, or even months for their cumbersome prescriptions and over-the-counter stash to clear up their eczema - temporarily. There are safe, alternatives, natural cures for eczema which I'll gladly share with you. Hopefully I can help you find something that will work for you like it did for me.

- Bananas are the answer! Everyone knows that bananas provide potassium that is useful in alleviating the pain of cramps and growing pains. The secret, however, is not found in the yummy part we all in, but rather in the skin. After you eat the banana, rub the inside of the banana peel on the affected area. Keep the banana peel on the affected area for 20-minutes or so - with applying pressure. There's something about banana's that makes them natural cures for eczema.

- Epsom salt baths work wonders to relieve the itching - lotions and creams that contain hydrocortizone and alcohol will quickly dry out the skin.

- Apply Neem Oil to the red rashes on your skin several times a day. This is NOT one of the natural cures for eczema, but after 3-4 days your eczema should be all cleared up.

- Go swimming at your local pool. I know having red, blotchy, dry skin all over can be embarrassing, but UV rays (the sun) and chlorine can heal your eczema. Tanning beds are good for dermatitis too.

- Eliminate dairy, gluten, and whey from your diet you currently have eczema - your eczema will clear up faster.

- Eczema can be due to lack of essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. Lack of Omega 3's are usually a factor in most skin disorders. Fish Oils are usually best for skin problems. HIGHLY suggested you visit you local pharmacy to pick up some fish oil supplements. Omega 6 & 9 are found more readily in the diet - Omega 3 is not.

I understand how painful and uncomfortable eczema is, because I had eczema. Hopefully, one of these natural cures for eczema will work for you.

If you suffer from Eczema or dermatitis and want a Permanent fix, then you've come to the right place. I've shared my experience at my blog to help others who continue to suffer like I used to.
