Eczema That Won't Go Away

Can't get eczema to go away on sons legs?
My son is 1 years old and has eczema. It's mainly visible on his legs, but he has it on his arms too. I've tried the brand from wal mart that has whinnie the pooh on the front and my doctor keeps telling my to use cetaphil. Cetaphil is what I have been using, but the eczema on his leg is still there and won't go away. It's like the cream does nothing for him. I feel bad for him b/c everyone always thinks he has a rash or something. Is there anything else I can try to see if it will clear his eczema up?
My son had it as well. Yes, we used Cetaphil, but the doctor also gave us a prescription to use during flare-ups which made a world of difference.
I would go see a dermatologist or ask your doctor for a medicated lotion. Once my son had his lotion, it cleared within two days.
Healing Eczema The Natural Way
Are you going to treat your eczema with a natural remedy? Are you going to treat it with conventional medications? Which will work faster? Which will work better? Decisions, decisions, decisions. For some people the decision is an easy one. Some people think natural treatments are voodoo medicine and some believe allopathic medicine treats just the symptoms and not the cause of a disorder. For many other people, however, the decision is not so cut-and-dried.
If you choose allopathic medicine, what are the pluses and what are the minuses? Your main choices for treatment are antihistamines and steroids, either topical or internal. On the plus side, relief is very quick, especially for the topical treatments. These eczema remedies are more or less a “one size fits all” approach, so there isn’t a lot of experimentation involved in finding the right treatment. You’ll know pretty much right away whether or not they will work for you, and generally they will work, at least initially.
There are several minuses with allopathic pharmaceuticals. The first is the cost. Even if medications are covered by health insurance, there will be out-of-pocket expenses, and if you use them for a long time, the cost of pharmaceuticals can add up. Bigger minuses are the various side effects associated with pharmaceutical use. Your body will build up a tolerance to pharmaceuticals over time, so it will be necessary to periodically change medications and dosages. Topical steroids can, over time, thin your skin. Finally, antihistamines can make you drowsy, anything from just a little lethargic to nearly sleepwalking, depending on the type and dose.
The two major minuses for natural remedies are a lot of trial and error may be involved before finding the right treatment because there are so many, and once the right treatment is begun, relief may not be immediate, depending on the treatment. Trial and error because there are so many natural remedies to choose from, and this stands to reason since no two bodies are alike; what works well for one person may not work so well for another. Relief may not be immediate if the remedy seeks to address the root cause of the eczema rather than merely treating the symptom. But in the case of natural poultices and creams, relief may be just as fast as with cortisone.
A big plus for healing eczema the natural way is that once a workable treatment is found, you never have to change it because your body won’t build up a tolerance to it. Another plus, alluded to in the previous paragraph is that many natural remedies address the cause rather than just the symptoms of eczema. The right natural treatment could put your eczema into remission forever. Another plus, often overlooked, is expense. Many ingredients for natural eczema remedies can be found around the house already. Even if treatment is long term, it won’t break the bank.
There are positives and negatives for both natural treatments and allopathic treatments for eczema. However, if you do even a little research, I’m sure that you will come to the conclusion that the positives for natural remedies far, far outweigh those for allopathic remedies.
