Eczema Veins

Why does my skin go purple when cold?
I know from science lessons that when the body is cold, the veins shrink and the skin goes blue from an apparent lack of blood, when you are warm, the veins become more obvious and you go red, but I have a strange body, and I start off by going red in the hands, then the back of my hand goes purple - and this is when I know that I'm really, REALLY cold to the point of physical pain. Also, after a while, I sometimes see red splotches dispersed around my hand.
I'm not worried about anything, I'm sure it's normal, I'd just like to hear a scientific explanation of why the hand goes purple. Ftr, I don't have exma, eczema or any kind of skin disease.
I told you, I'm not worrying about anything. I'm just looking for a bit of good old science.
