Eyes Eczema

Help with eczema around eyes - Read extra detail please?
I have had eczema for years and am now 16 years old so obviously would like to wear make-up.
I put eyeliner and mascara on my eyes and sometimes the morning after my eye is red, dry and swollen [it looks like i have been punched!] the swelling and redness usually goes down pretty quickly within the same day.
What could be causing it? It's not the make-up of face wipes cause it doesn't happen every time I put eye make up on.
Sometimes, when I sleep I scratch the eczema I get on my arms without realising and I was wondering, if sometimes when I go to sleep and I haven't take my eye make up off I rub my eyes in my sleep and it just becomes irritated?
Thanks x
The best thing to do is to focus on treating the underlying cause of the eczema and minimize the flare ups by:
- bathing using warm, not hot, water and a very mid soap
- using a cream or petroleum jelly based moisturizer on wet skin after bathing or washing hands.
- moisturize throughout the day as the need arises. Avoid using lotions as they tend to dry out the skin
- pat excess water from skin after moisturizing as rubbing irritates the skin
- wear cotton clothing
- avoid the use of detergents, fabric softeners and dryer sheets with perfumes and/or dyes
There's a really great article on this website about how one woman with severe eczema was finally able to beat it: http://tinyurl.com/yae5urb
