what do u think, should i get my daughter vaccinated?did u get ur child vaccinated
I have gotten both the seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 shot for my little girl (16 months old). She also has health concerns (autoimmune disorder) and would likely become very ill if she does get the flu (no immune system to fight it so it would run wild in her).
We talked long and hard with all of her doctors (family, pediatric, hematologists) and they all agree that it is better to get the shot than not. There and my primary reason is that rather than not realize she has the flu, we were able monitor her extremely closely and watch for any signs of a reaction to the vaccine (with her at least she can actually become ill from any vaccine because of the immune disorder). We are hoping that we have picked the worse of 2 evils. She has absolutely not side effects besides a sore arm and neither did my husband, myself or any of her 4 grandparents.
I agree that there has not been enough testing done but I believe that I need to take that chance. One other thing you may want to note is that at least here (in Canada) a child requires a booster shot after their 1st flu shot (this needs to only be done the 1st time and 28 days later) as well as a booster shot with the H1N1 (21 days later). We were one of the 1st families to get it due to my daughters illness.
I hope this helps you.
