Itchy Skin

My dog deosn't like my new cat and he has itchy skin. Did I say he want to kill my cat?
(the skin thing happens only in the summer)Loosing hair ,itchy skin, drooling for cat. Must kill cat is on his mind seems like it's all his mind constently!
First the cat issue...they don't have to like each other, they just have to learn to live together without one hurting the other. Teach your dog a leave it command if he goes after the new cat. Did you take time to introduce them properly or just throw them in together and expect it to work right away? It's going to take time on both sides. Here is a good article on the proper way to do the introduction:

I will admit that I have never separated them for weeks the way most people recommend nor did I swap scents. However, when bringing a new cat home, I always start out with them only in one room. Giving them the whole house can be overwhelming. I use a baby gate and the home office is the designated cat room. Their cat trees and toys are in that room with the baby gate up at all times for their quick and easy escape. The puppy will still give chase sometimes, but it's happening less and less now that she knows the "leave it" command. Her curiosity has been sated so they aren't that big an attraction anymore. Our older dog has long since learned to ignore them after work on our part.
As for the allergies...Bathe your dog weekly in either Malaseb or Relief shampoo. Both are by IVZ animal health and can be purchased at the vet or online at places like healthypets.com, petmedsrx.com, etc. Try Natural Balance duck and potato for food. On really bad days, benedryl. 1 mg for each pound. If your dog is 25 pounds, then one 25 mg benedryl. If it's 50 pounds, then double it. Make sure you deflea both your dog and your cat and wash their bedding weekly to help cut down on them. All of that should help some. If all of that doesn't work, you need to see a dermatologist. It's no fun to be itching all the time and your dog can actually develop a staph infection. Dangerous and costly.
Good luck on both accounts!
