she is a stray we took in this winter and had treated at the vets, we are hoping for a home remedy that will work. her skin is really pink and she scratches a lot and bites herself also. would baby oil work?
You might consider that she has a food allergy. Ask your vet if this is a possibility. There are steroid and benedryl treatment to help stop the itch, but if it is to the food, you need to change.
Major allergen is corn
What Is A Natural Baby Psoriasis Treatment?
I am very sorry to hear your baby has psoriasis. You are probably looking for an effective baby psoriasis treatment, just as any good parent in your circumstance would be.
Naturally, you want your pediatrician to see your baby, and that is always your first step. Discuss some of the natural baby psoriasis treatments you would like to try.
Natural treatments? Yes. Remember, you are not alone! Thousands of others who have infants and small children with psoriasis have had great success with natural baby psoriasis treatments. They can be done right at home without any apprehension about side effects..
To start with, when your baby has a flare-up, apply cool compresses to the effected area. You can steep a soft towel in cold water, squeeze it out, and softly apply it to the effected area to cool it down and add moisture to the skin.
Right after you remove the compress, apply a non-allergenic, non-scented moisturizer to your baby's skin to seal in the dampness from the compress as part of your baby psoriasis treatment.
Your baby will also feel relief when he gets a nice lukewarm bath. Remember - never use hot water which dries the skin. Ask your physician about how often to bathe your baby. Some pediatricians say once a day, some say every other day.
Use a fragrance free mild soap. Keep the bath of short duration and don't use soap until the very end of the bath. This will stop your baby from sitting in soapy water which can dry out his skin.
Dry your baby by lightly patting him with a soft, absorbent towel. Do not rub hard. Rubbing hard is not only uncomfortable for your baby, but you also want to leave some moisture on his skin even after you have patted him dry.
While your baby is still slightly wet, apply a no-aroma moisturizer. This moisturizer will not allow the dampness on his skin to escape, which will help prevent his skin from drying out.
Moisturizers should be used several times a day as part of your natural baby psoriasis treatment. Remember I said earlier that they were essential, and they are!
Try to dress your baby in natural fabrics such as cotton. Do not overdress him! You do not want your baby to become hot and sticky. You want his skin to stay cool and be able to breathe.
Crib sheets should also permit his skin to breathe. The best sheets are all cotton and are kept unsoiled, soft and dry.
To prevent your baby from scratching his skin, put little socks over his hands, particularly when he sleeps. Also keep his nails trimmed -- fingernails and toenails!
Your baby's clothing and his bedding should be laundered in a gentle detergent that has no added scents or fragrances. The same is true if you use a fabric softener.
I am so sorry that your baby has psoriasis. This skin condition no doubt makes your baby very prickly and I know that it's grueling for any parent to watch their child suffer.
You will be happy to know, however, that very successful natural home cures are available to help your baby. Thousands of parents have seen psoriasis flare-ups completely vanish from their babies! I am sure you will find the same thing true for your baby, too!
