Psoriasis Ear Infection
ear problems and dizziness??
for years ive been suffering with itchy ears and recurring ear and throat infections. I finally found a GP who listened and agreed to pass me onto an ENT specialist. Ive been to see him and hes said ive got psoriasis in my ear canal........... anyone know any treatment for this because when i asked he said 'its not my field' ????
I also suffer greatly from dizziness- the only way i can describe it is like when youve had too much to drink and the whole world spins and im sick or feel sick for ages after. When i told the specialist this he asked me to close my eyes and he started shaking my head from side to side, this then made me more dizzy than normal and i was nearly sick. After he did this he said he would have to get me an appointment with audiology as it wasnt an ENT problem.
any one have any ideas on what i can do to at least ease the symptoms????
thank you

Psoriasis in the ear is very difficult to treat because most psoriasis medications are used topically.
Psoriasis is caused by your very own immune system attacking skin cells causing an over deposit of plaques. You will probably need an oral immunosurpressant such as cyclosporin or methotrexate to treat it.
Also, you mentioned dizzyness. A lot of balancing is done through the semi-circular canals of the ear. It's very hard to treat because the canals are buried in bone. The only medication I know used to treat vertigo is betahistine (serc). This isint an ENT specialty for sure and it's interesting what audiology has to say. I don't think it's Psoriasis though because if you do have psoriasis, it would be all over your body. I think it's an inner ear infection.
Unfortunately I can't give you any tips to make the dizzyness go away except to sleep it off. There are certain therapists who help do head position excersizes with you that will help relieve some of the dizzyness.
