Honey As Moisturizer

Honey As Moisturizer

Environmental factors like chemicals, pollution and smoke, but the sun and wind are the two main reasons why your skin becomes dry and damaged. Because it feels rough and sore, you reach for the closest bottle of lotion and hope it helps.

Did you know that honey as an ingredient is good for you and your skin's health? It not only soothes your skin, it's also an effective skincare aid.

Honey as a moisturizer is nothing new. It has been around for centuries and used in natural skin care. Cleopatra used honey as moisturizer to keep her beauty undamaged.

Damage to the collagen fibers causes sagging and lost firmness. Damage to cellular membranes causes tiny breaks in the brick and mortar foundation that is your skin. Eventually, the tiny bits of molecular damage add up to fine lines and visible wrinkling. In order to reverse wrinkles, you have to repair the molecular damage.

Antioxidants are known to prevent the damage, but there has been some debate concerning whether or not they can repair it, effectively reversing wrinkles and increasing firmness. The debate may be about to come to an end as research concerning retinoids and, lately, coenzyme Q10 continues to be published.

This particular honey is obtained from the manuka bush thus the name manuka honey. Because of the presence of unique enzymes containing antibacterial properties, known as the Unique Manuka Factor (UMF), it's effective in healing skin sores and blemishes including acne and even more serious skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

This particular type of honey penetrates deeply into your skin to nourish, rejuvenate and to make it look younger and softer. And, because it's a strong antioxidant, it protects skin from damage caused by free radicals found in environmental pollutants.

Using this honey as moisturizer also supports the skin’s own cell renewal process. Because it promotes the production of collagen and elastin in your skin, the two proteins keep your skin firm, elastic and wrinkle-free.

Oils were and are still used to heal, relax, excite, for rituals, psychic and spiritual healing. During ancient times oil was also used as trade for gold, silver and other goods and services.

How much truth there is to the story of robbers using a concoction of cinnamon, clove and oregano which they applied to their bodies to help their immune system ward off the plague is anybody’s guess. Stories abound of the curative nature of oils.

Evening primrose oil can be used to treat eczema and other skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis, both orally and topically. If you use EP capsules to reduce the effects of the menopause, and also suffer from any of these conditions, try opening a capsule and rubbing it on one of the effective areas and then monitor it. You should eventually notice a difference between the treated and untreated areas.

It also moisturizes your skin and keeps it soft, even when exposed to the harsh chemicals found in washing up liquids and other cleaning products. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties are the classic properties needed of a substance to prevent or moderate the inflammatory of the immune system to triggers such as the damage caused by conditions such as acne, promoted mainly by the bacterial infection of the pores of the skin that have been plugged by excess sebum or skin oil

You can rub in evening primrose oil to have the opposite effect and smooth and help clean the pores, and then heal any damage caused by the acne to the skin. In this way scars caused by the pustules can be minimized. When it used on inflammatory skin conditions, it soothes the burning sensation of eczema, and helps to alleviate the redness and itching of that and of acne and psoriasis. The oil has also been found effective in treating various forms of dermatitis, including some severe industrial forms of the condition.

There are countless nail fungus treatments, natural essential oils and other compounds that people claim are effective in curing nail fungus. I have personally tried numerous natural nail fungus treatments (remedies) with varying degrees of success. Below is a list of remedies that I have tried and their outcome.

Oregano oil

Oregano is touted to be extremely anti fungal and cures nail fungus as well as other internal fungus conditions if taken orally. I tried oregano oil topically on my nails some years back. It was advised that a mixture of oregano and olive oil helps the oregano soak deep into the nail where nail fungus hides. To assist the oregano oil, I filed my nails down as close as possible to allow better penetration. I used a 3 to 1 ratio of oregano to olive oil for about a year. It seemed to kill some of the fungus and left a slightly green color in my nails. After a year, I finally gave up and tried something else.

Listerine Mouth Wash

Three of the ingredients in Listerine are anti fungal. Eucalyptol, a natural organic compound found in eucalyptus oil, Alcohol and Thymol. Thymol is derived from cumin and Thyme. I tried Listerine for about six months with some success. The nail fungus was not completely being killed especially in the outer part of the nail. After about six months of using Listerine, it was not killing the fungus completely, so I used a 50/50 mixture of Listerine and hydrogen peroxide. After about six months of soaking my feet in the mixture twice a day for about fifteen minutes, it was evident that some of the nail fungus was not being killed.

Vinegar

Some people have had success with vinegar so I gave it a try. I used distilled vinegar by itself for a few months with mixed results. I could see it was working a little, but I was getting similar results as the other remedies. So I mixed in a third of Listerine and a third of hydrogen peroxide. Still not a complete success.

Vicks Vapor Rub

I gave up on the other remedies and tried Vicks Vapor Rub. I slathered on this greasy stuff 2-3 times a day. After a month or so, one of my nails came off. I continued to use the Vicks, but the fungus came back.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil seems to have very good success at curing nail fungus according to different resources that I researched. I applied 100% tea tree oil to my toe nails to kill my nail fungus once and for all. After about three days, rashes developed on the skin around my nails and had intense itching. So I read that Lavender oil mixed with the tea tree oil will reduce the harsh effects on the skin. I mixed 50/50 and still had the rashes. Then I used 3-to-1 with no rashes. After about two months treatment, I could tell that the fungus was still growing from the base of the nail. I did notice some success, this did not work for me.

Nonyx Nail Gel

I tried Nonyx after reading some glowing reviews. I filed my nails thin and applied this stuff for a few days. It is very hard to make sure that you don't get Nonyx on your skin around the nails. My skin around the nails started burning, itching and turning red. This stuff is ethanoic acid and it burned my skin around the nails. I kept on using it while being extremely careful not to allow Nonyx to touch the skin around the nail. After a few more days, it started to burn the skin UNDER the nails. So I quit using this harsh stuff.

Bleach

Bleach is extremely effective with killing fungus. I used a Q-Tip and put a small amount on my nails twice a day. After 3 or 4 days, the skin around my nails started peeling and my toes itched. This stuff was too harsh for my liking.

Lamisil Oral Prescription

I spoke with a podiatrist about Lamisil. He suggested that it may cause kidney and liver damage so I would need to have frequent liver and kidney function tests while using the product. He also said it would take about a year to work. I elected not to risk the health concerns with this treatment.

The only treatment that worked for me was a product called FungiBan ( www.fungiban.com ). After using FungiBan for about four months, I was finally free of nail fungus but I continued to use the product until my nails fully grew out just to make sure.
