Psoriasis Uv Light Treatment

Anyone have experience with psoriasis treatments?

I'm 18 now and I've had psoriasis since I was 4 or 5. It is just just now starting to get better. I've been on alot of different medications for psoriasis and most didn't help at all. I've only used two things in which i've noticed a difference. Methotrexate and Humira (which I'm on now). I personally hate topicals and crap like that(including shampoos, lotions ect..), but I know alot of people get good results with it. Similarly, I don't have enough time or the transportaion to go across town to a doctors office three times a week to stand in front of a UV light. I liked methotrexate, which is a pill, and it helped alot but it is also considered to be dangerous and required a monthly drug test. I was taking enbrel for awhile, and though, by all accounts it was supposedly some sort of miracle drug, It didn't really effect me, eccept to keep me from donating blood.

So anyway, I was just wondering what other people's opinions are and what works for them.

Hello there. I gave up on prescription medications long time ago (because of side-effects) and found a wonderful herbal cream and spray online at Champori.com I used it for a few weeks 15 months ago and haven't had a flare up since!!
(mine is plaque psor. on knees, elbows and scalp)

The Effects of Dead Sea Sun on Psoriasis

Today, when we hear of sunlight in a medical sense, it is usually associated with the dangers of overexposure and sunburn. But, there is one place on earth where, due to the depth and unique geographical and climatic conditions prevailing, prolonged exposure to the suns UV rays is extremely beneficial and therapeutic for sufferers from eczema, psoriasis and rheumatism.

The Dead Sea - geographically and medically unique

The Dead sea is the lowest spot on the face of the earth with a huge lake of the saltiest water known to man (it’s so saline that you can lay in the water and read a book - you float). Situated in the Negev desert, the climate is dry and the area has sunshine for most of the year. What makes this spot so different is that its depth - over 415 meters below sea level - filters out and reduces most of the harmful effects of UV radiation and allows sufferers from eczema, psoriasis and rheumatism to take, under medical supervision, long sun baths.

How does it work?

There are two types of UV light occurring naturally in nature - UV-A and UV-B. UV-A slows down the growth of skin cells (which is associated with psoriasis and eczema) and thus reduces flaky skin and redness. UV-A also has a long lasting therapeutic effect on those areas of the body suffering from rheumatism. Whilst it is possible to have UV-A treatments using commercially available equipment, sessions are usually limited to 20 minutes. At the Dead Sea, because of its unique properties, patients can gradually work up to three hours of exposure (under medical supervision of course) with no adverse effects. If you also add to the sun treatment, bathing in the mineral rich water and use of Dead Sea mud packs, you are providing your body with all it needs to begin to heal itself. Research indicates that over 95% of eczema, psoriasis and rheumatism sufferers, experience significant relief after just one week’s treatment with effects lasting for up to a year following a full course of treatment.
