Psoriasis Worse In Pregnancy
Is it safe to get my nails filled when pregnant?
I'm 9 weeks and haven't had my acrylics filled since before I conceived (you can guess how bad they look LOL). I keep acrylics on because I have psoriasis and the acrylics allow me to scratch but not dig so it's either have a fill or have them removed (which means I have to soak my hands in fingernail polish remover for an hour anyways) and then keep my nails extremely short for the rest of my pregnancy. Does anyone know if fills are safe if done in moderation? Which is more harmful, a fill or the removal process? Thanks!
both arent the best but its really the fumes in the salon that can be dangerous. i dont think its too bad if you arent going there all the time. one of the ladies at the place i used to get mine done worked there for most of her pregnancy but she wore a face mask and sat the closest to the door and had a fan going at all times. it would probably take less time to get them filled then having them removed so i would say just get it done but be careful as to where you sit.
The color of your skin is usually predetermined by genetics or climate. The rule of thumb is generally people in subtropical climates tend to be fair skinned while people in tropical climates closer to the equator tend to be darker skinned. Skin discoloration can occur for many different reasons some of which are genetics, sun exposure, allergy, disease, pregnancy, vitamin deficiency or aging. Most people cringe when they see a discoloration on their skin. We look at them as an eye sore or an imperfection with which we just wish would go away. However can these imperfections be more than just an eyesore? The answer is sometimes they can be. Certain diseases can cause skin discolorations and need to be treated properly or the disease can worsen.
Some of the most common skin discolorations are the following. Birthmarks which are usually red or brown in color. The exact cause of birthmarks are still unknown however it is thought to be some sort of deformity in the growth of blood vessel which is thought to occur very early in the gestation period. Birthmarks appear on the skin anywhere from birth to about one month. Birthmarks can disappear on their own or can be surgically removed. Moles are also a type of skin discoloration. Moles are usually brown. They can be flat or raised and can darken over time to almost appear black.
Moles are usually very harmless however if they itch, bleed, or change size they can be cancerous and need to be examined by a physician. Moles can disappear on their own and also be removed usually by laser surgery. Age spots tend to look like freckles and are usually light brown. They tend to be shaped very awkwardly or oblong. Age spots themselves are harmless however because they are caused by the sun you may develop some sort of skin cancer. Skin fungus also can cause some minor discoloration of the skin. Most common skin fungi are: athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm. Most of them are caused by constant moisture against the skin.
Skin care specialist also known as estheticians are fully licensed and trained and usually work along side of a physician. Estheticians are very knowledgeable and can make recommendations on what type of treatments and skin care products you should use to help your skin feel and look its healthiest. A dermatologist a licensed physician trained to diagnosis skin disorders. To determine whether or not you should see a esthetician or a dermatologist you can consult your primary physician.
Skin lightening cream is available to try to help get rid of skin discolorations. Skin lightening cream is generally used to counter hyper pigmentation but can also be used for other reason. There are many different products available on the market to choose from but beware of the chemicals that are used in certain skin lightening creams as they may be very harmful to your skin.
