help!!!! psoriasis in the army?
so im supposed to ship out on feb 4th to boot camp in fort benning and today i went to get my haircut a little shorter and the girl cutting it started going through my hair looking at my scalp. about a minute later she told me "im pretty sure you have psoriasis" so i came home and called my recruiter to tell him and he told me "dont worry about it pretend you never knew and play stupid they will give you medicine when you get down to boot camp".
i did some research of my own and from what i can tell, psoriasis is a permanent disqualification from all branches of service. any advice on what i should do? i really dont want to fly down get my head shaved and get sent back home and he really doesnt seem to want to be the one to help me with anything.
the only problem is i wouldn't be able to finish training because its a "disqualification"
Plead ignorance, keep your head moisturized. You'll be fine.
I served 11 years with the condition, starting as Infantry and ending as an AH-64D Pilot. It didn't ever affect my service, not one doctor ever mentioned it. I was just always careful to try and keep it from flaring up.
