Severe Eczema In Infants
Post-mastectomy lymphedema. Any advice?
I began with only one arm (cancer as an infant), so lymphedema in that hand and arm kinda sucks. I also have pretty severe eczema on the hand, which leaves openings for all kinds of nasties to invade. Of course I'll be working with docs, but I'd love to hear your tips, tricks or horror stories. And has anyone had it just "go away?" (This just started in the past week, with an infection that is being treated. I'm having a *real* hard time with it emotionally, but I'll get over that, so be honest.)
Hi, I hope you have some good doctors, I say that because alot of them don't know what lymphedema is or how to deal with it. What are they treating the eczema with? Have you had lymphedema therapy yet? complete decongestive therapy can make a big difference in swelling and also mobility. You'd been seen by a qualified therapist who would work on your whole body, and of course your arm, you'd be given special exercises to promote lymph flow, skin care tips, and be wrapped then later on fitted with a sleeve. The lymph flow improvement with therapy might help the eczema as well. It is hard to deal with emotionally and you should have support, feel free to join my support group. We have chats, online meetings every so often and people are around in the chat room at various times to talk to newbies and help others with questions. With lymphedema, it 's not just an arm, it affects the whole system, your immunity is compromised. You need to learn all you can about it.
