Toddlers Eczema
Any Recommendations for Toddler Eczema?
My daughter is 1year and 9 months. She has eczema, its all over her chest and in the joints of her arms and legs. Just recently she started scratching. At first she didn't know how, she would come up to me and point at it and say "ouchie" I scratched it for her, then when I would stop she would put my hand back. Anyhoo thats when I realized she had eczema.
So back to the question, lol she has been scratching a lot lately. I use hydrocortizone and some vaseline brand body lotion, but nothing seems to work.
What do you recommend I use to calm her itch and make the bumps and redness go away?
I feel so bad for her. What worked for your kids?
P.S. The Doc just said to use Hydrocortisone and a lotion daily (which isn't hlping very much unfortunately)
Ok.... first off wash her with Dove Sensitive Skin Bar Soap. The fragrances in most soaps aggravate sensitive skin. So, just use a fragrance free like Dove, I think Oil Of Olay has a fragrance free one too. As far as lotion, go to the store and buy Cetaphil CREAM.... don't get lotion, get the cream. It comes in a little tub and it's about $11.00 for the tub. That will help keep the skin moisturized. Doing that will HELP with the itching.
You want to stay away from scented stuff... that only makes things worse. I really think that just using the stuff I mentioned above will ease a lot of the itching. Also, it would be a good idea to have her see a dermatologist. Most regular doctors have NO clue how to treat skin conditions so you could maybe get some prescription strength ointment to help with it. I hope it helps...
