Psoriasis or dandruff? I can't tell....?
Well I don't really know how to explain what it looks like but I'll try...
My 18 month olds scalp has like this white crusty stuff all over the top.. I've tried dandruff shampoo but it doesn't work.. Her dad has psoriasis and it kind of looks like that, but it also looks like dandruff.. Can anyone tell me what it is or give me an idea of what I could put on it to make it better..
She goes to the doctor in 2 weeks and I'm going to ask him about it. I just want to try and confirm what it might be so I can possibly make it look better..
Also, it doesn't seem to bother her, it's like she don't even know it's there.. I wouldn't have even noticed it if I hadn't tried putting her hair in a cute little pony tail one day..
If it has a yellowish tinge to it, it is probably Cradle Cap. You need to remove it without picking it. Picking it may cause infection.
Massage some baby oil on her head and let it set for 30 minutes.
Use a baby comb or a gentle lice comb and try to lift some of the scales.
Once they are lifted, use baby shampoo and shampoo her head and try to use your fingernails to gently "help" some of the crusts off.
Gently dry her hair
Use a brush or baby comb to remove any of the scales and crusts you loosened.
It won't disappear in one night, but you need to be consistent because it will build up quickly again.
