Wet Eczema Dogs
Red, blotchy face... help me?
I suffer from eczema. I have a bit of a bumpy, red face and I don't know how to clear it. Normally, my skin is like a yo-yo. Someday, it's clean, clear and smooth, the next it can turn blotchy and red. I'm staying with my family and they have 2 dogs. Everytime I stroke them and touch my face, then it becomes itchy and weeps a little. I only have Vaseline and washing my face then applying Vaseline doesn't help. I was thinking should I rest wet tissues on my face to cool the blotches and reduce the redness?
Atopic eczema cannot be cured. Treatments aim to control the symptoms.
Home treatment
There are a number of over-the-counter remedies available from pharmacies to treat eczema including those below. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice on which treatment to use.
* Emollients are moisturisers which soothe, smooth and add water to (hydrate) the skin. They are the most common treatment and should be used every day even if you do not have eczema symptoms. Examples include aqueous cream and E45 cream. You can apply emollients directly to your skin as lotions, creams or ointments. A good time to apply them is just after a bath, while your skin is still slightly moist. Oils or washes are also available, which you can use in the shower or add to a bath.
* Mild steroid creams, such as hydrocortisone (eg Dermacort or Lanacort) can calm flare-ups of eczema by suppressing your body's inflammatory response. You should ask the pharmacist's advice or see your GP before using any steroid cream. The stronger steroids are only available on prescription (see below). You should continue to use emollients at the same time as steroid

BATHING:-
while bathing the dog, there are two things which are very important.One is the shampoo that you are using and other is how you are applying it on the dog. If you don't apply the
shampoo properly,it can enter the eyes of the dog which could result in may complications.
When you are using shampoo on the dog you need to be very careful and one should use high quality products that should not harm their skin. Bathing is very important for keeping dogs healthy.However, frequent bathing could cause skin to become dry and itchy and this may lead to dermatitis or eczema.so it is always a better step to ask a doctor about the bathing because if the dog does get something wrong with its skin then you would feel embarressed.
There are a lot of dogs that feel great when you bathe them frequently, while few others
cannot tolerate frequent bathing.If your dog is fond of playing outside and keeps getting
dirty then it should be given a bath to avoid getting infections.
The dog's bath water should not be too hot or too cold, but it should be lukewarm.fill the
bath tub till the knee of your dog.it always better to use a restraint, if you think your
dog could get aggressive when you are putting it in the bath tub.
It is wiser to Use a hand-held shower to wet the dog all over. Do not to spray water
directly on the face of the dog as it may get scared.Increase the quantity of water and
apply the shampoo slowly on the back and sides of your dog.Use the foam to massage the
entire body of the dog.The dog's face needs to be washed with extreme care.Always Use a
sponge to wash the eyes, mouth, ears and nose of the dog.It is always adwisable to shampoo dog's body and then wash it completely before you wash your dog's face.it should always be washed with extreme care.And as soon as you are done with it use a comb for bruhing off any dust particles in the dog's fur.It is very much important that you apply the shampoo on all the parts of the body of your dog and wash it carefuly so that there is no dirt left.the dogs eyes should be closed so that the shampoo may noy harm it.
Wash the dog until you are sure it is clean. Just because you have given a bath does not
mean the dog is clean. it can happen that you might require to bath him again if you find it
still dirty.Make sure you wash the soap from dogs body properly.It is preffered to use a dry
towel for cleaning n drying your dog.Use a good moisturizer that should be healthy for your
dogs fur as it makes your dog look more beautiful and will definately going to smell good.
AS a TIP:-
*you can use comb to give your dog different hair styles.
*always avoid blow drying unless necessary.
