Who Does Eczema Affect

Is there anything you can do to treat eczema and skin allergies besides medications?
Almost 2 years ago now I broke out in an itchy bumpy rash. It started around the backs of my knees, slowly made its way up my thighs, around the front of my knees, to my lower back, my shoulder blades, the inside of my upper arms, the back of my lower arms under my elbow, and then to my knuckles and sometimes inbetween my fingers. I immediately went to the doctor because it progressed quickly and he suggested that it was a pesticide, or bed bugs, basically that lived under your skin and caused an itchy red rash. I was given pesticide which made my affected areas burn severly. Stopped that, and went to a local dermatologist who suggested the same thing. Leaving that possibility behind again, I went to another dermatologist. She said I had a bad allergic reaction to nickle(from my belt holes and buckle), along with eczema, and a mild case of hay fever. She gave me a cream that always makes the itching stop temporarily, but has never gotten rid of the rash totally. Suggestions?
Aquaphor is an excellent oinment, or use Eucerin if you want a cream. Apply several times a day, and it should help with clearing it up
Eczema and Diet – is There a Connection?
There is a clear connection for a lot of sufferers between eczema and diet.
If your body is crying out for good nutrients you will notice ill health in one form or another. A body which is in need of quality nutrition is likely to suffer with asthma, colds, flu and other such ailments.
It’s the quality nutrition from the good food which creates healthy individual cells, which in turn builds a stronger immune system and therefore creates positive health.
Not every body can see the connection. But there is a connection and you can test it yourself by keeping a journal.
Keeping a journal does not have to be complicated. Writing a paragraph or two about the foods you are eating and how it affects your skin is all that is needed.
For instance if you eat junk food all day; say cakes, crisps, chocolate, candy and salted nuts you would probably find that your eczema will become irritated and you suffer continuous itchy fits.
By regularly changing your food and keeping a journal on the effect it has on your skin will reveal some valuable information.
You could start out by eliminating all dairy products, junk food and foods containing white flour.
Keeping a diary does not have to be anything complicated. You can write a paragraph or two making a note of the new foods you introduce on a daily basis.
Here are some journal writing tips:
Eczema and Diet – Is There A Connection Tip #1
Find a note book to use as a journal. A loose-leaf binder or spiral note book is perfect. Make a daily entry of one or two sentences. Make a note of any new food or food combinations that you are including or excluding. How does it affect your skin?
Eczema and Diet – Is There A Connection Tip #2
Make a note of the time of day you get an urge to scratch and how long those urge lasts for. Is the itch as a result of a particular food you have eaten today.
Eczema and Diet – Is There A Connection Tip #3
At the end of each week you should review and analyse your journal. Take a look at your thoughts and feelings for the week. Can you identify any patterns? Can you identify any "ahah" moments. You will only uncover these things if you review your journal on a regular basis.
