What is the vitamin D count in eggs?
I have heard that eggs are a natural source of vitamin D but I don;t know how much they have. I have psoriasis and thought that I could absorb that kind of vitamin D better than the kind you get in supplemental pills for in the winter.
One large, hard boiled egg contains about 26 I.U. of Vitamin D. The recommended daily allowance of vitamin D is 200 I.U. Your needs may be different depending on individual health factors. I know many people who have recommendations from their doctors to take 1,000 I.U. per day in supplement form.
There are richer sources of Vitamin D - fortified milk and cereals are the best option. Tuna and Salmon also top the list of Vitamin D rich foods. Pork is also near the top of the Vitamin D list.
You can see the USDA's list of Vitamin D containing foods here: http://www.ars.usda.gov/SP2UserFiles/Place/12354500/Data/SR22/nutrlist/sr22w324.pdf it is sorted with the foods with the highest content on top.
Of course, getting 20 minutes of sunlight gives you Vitamin D as well, but as you mention we don't get to see the sun very much in the winter time. (Assuming you are in the Northern Hemisphere)
I hope that helps.
Rest, relaxation and relief from psoriasis all in one package
The Dead Sea is unique in many aspects, not the least of which is the combination of natural sites to explore, a rich and long history going back to biblical times and unique healing potential for those suffering from eczema, psoriasis and rheumatism as well as many other skin and joint/muscle problems.
The water’s high salt concentration (340 grams per liter which is about 10 times that normal sea water), means that you cannot sink when bathing and gives you a feeling of tranquility as you float effortlessly in the water. The air is oxygen rich, dry and free of the environmental pollution that we find in our towns and cities. The climate is hot, even in winter but the ultraviolet rays of the sun are filtered out by the atmosphere making it possible to sunbathe without fear of burning.
All these factors make the Dead Sea the perfect tourist spot, but they are also what gives the area its great therapeutic affect for patients suffering from eczema, psoriasis and rheumatism. The power of the sun as an agent for healing psoriasis is well known, and at the Dead Sea you don’t have to worry about the damaging side effects. The mineral rich “healing waters” and hot sulfur springs that abound in the area bring relief from the aches and pains of rheumatism and other joint and muscle ailments. Combined with the mineral rich Dead Sea mud packs that naturally clean your skin, you have all the conditions needed for a perfect health and beauty.
But there’s a lot more to do. You can bring the entire family and stay at one of the many first class hotels and spas in the area. After having your daily psoriasis treatment you can take a jeep ride into one of the many amazing canyons, go on a tour of the ancient fortress of Masada or take a ride to Jerusalem and explore the Old City and its amazing market. If you prefer, you can just laze around your hotel, enjoy the pool and the activities for the kids and have the vacation of a lifetime, along with significant relief from the symptoms and pains of eczema, psoriasis and rheumatism.
